As the openers for The Naked and Famous, XYLØ really could serve as headliners. This up and coming brother-sister duo have an onstage presence that got the the crowd’s hands up and dancing. The electro-pop style also recently collaborated with The Chainsmokers on the song “Setting Fires.” Their song was also featured in a PacSun commercial with the Jenner sisters in 2015.
Paige Duddy, the lead singer and sister of the duo, made her mark on stage as she moved from one side to the other while singing. She would make her way to one side then immediately turn, hair flying, to strut back over to where she started. Her energy livened up the crowd to the point where people in the front were enjoying the music, hands up, eyes closed, and people in the back were on their toes dancing. Meanwhile, her brother, Chase Duddy, kept the beats strong on the drums. His long hair flies as he hits every beat of the song. His eclectic beats and hard snares keep grasp of listeners’ attention as they compliment Paige’s rhythm. Of course, the rest of the band is not forgotten with their passion shown through loud yells to the crowd with Paige and head banging with Chase.
Their show was themed with different hued lights from red to blue to white, which each set the mood for their song. Their more loving and serious songs, such as “LA Love Song” and “Between the Devil and Deep Blue Sea,” come with heartfelt messages. They have more solemn, melancholy songs, such as “Afterlife” and “America.” Then there are their more pop songs that you would hear on mainstream radio, such as “Get Closer” and “Setting Fires,” which were complemented with bright white lights. Each stage setting showed a different aspect of XYLØ, only proving how eclectic their music production is.
