Hollis Brown and Citizen Cope opened for Counting Crows this past Wednesday 9/30/15. Hollis Brown came out with a solid set of songs including some new ones from their recently released album 3 Shots. The Boston Herald interviewed Adam Duritz from the Counting Crows and he says, “People really need to show up early to hear Hollis Brown. They are just an unbelievable live band.” After rocking out with Hollis, Clarence Greenwood and the others from Citizen Cope took the stage to give a heartfelt but still jamming performance before Counting Crows. After Citizen Cope finished up their set Adam Duritz actually came out on stage to have the audience give another round of applause, and later spent some time talking about the charities they support and veterans in the audience to which there were cheers from the audience. Many audience members in the floor section left their chairs to crowd the front of the stage as it wasn’t much of a concert to be sitting down at. Partway through their set, Dan Vickrey and David Immerglück had an epic guitar solo showdown, switching back and forth enough times that each had something like 4 solos while the crowd loved the heightening intensity that had them on their feet roaring. They of course had a fantastic encore as well that made sure that almost everyone stayed until the very end, and wish it wasn’t over when they left the stage after.
