On Saturday, October 12 Jonas Blue and Gryffin had the crowd dancing non-stop throughout the entire concert at the Shrine Expo Hall. This was Gryffin’s first show to kick off his Gravity II Tour, promoting his album due out on October 24.
James Robin, known by his DJ name Jonas Blue, kicked off the night. The English songwriter, record producer and remixer, has created his image around blending dance and pop music.
Blue kept behind the DJ booth for the entirety of his set, but each image that appeared behind him captivated the audience. During his single ‘Fast Car’, you looked up and it felt like you were racing down the road with him.
You could hear Gryffin even before you could see him. Green and blue lights shone through the smoke that enveloped the stage as the beat intensified. The 32-year-old American DJ tore through it all and appeared center stage with his guitar in hand, causing the crowd’s cheers to grow even louder.
Gryffin is a man of many talents. He expertly navigated switching between two guitars, a keyboard and drums throughout his set. Not to mention, he was belting out the lyrics to all his songs.
His show was anything but mellow. With an array of flashing lights and the different images that appeared on the screen behind him, the audience was transported from the end of the rainbow all the way to outer space.
When the crowd was feeling the beat, you could hear “woop woop” echoing throughout the venue, which Gryffin fed off of. Each time the crowd sang along with him, he would smile wide at the audience.
