The Expendables January 25, 2015 As part of their Winter Blackout 2015, The Expendables and Katastro came to SLO Brewing Company in San Luis Obispo, CA on January 25. Katastro kicked off the night with “You and I Wait,” revving up the crowd. With a blend of rock, funk and blues, they got the crowd swaying. A group of 6 guys, Fortunate Youth made their appearance on this leg of the tour, bringing with them positivity and high energy stage presence. This reggae group, complete with bongo drums, only helped add to the energy with their hit “Love is the Most High.” Dan Kelly, lead vocals, chugged part of a beer and yelled “Cheers! I love you SLO,” only exciting the crowd further. The compact venue was perfect for the laid back and reggae vibes and styles of each band. Then the Expendables came onto stage, wasting no time before launching into their first song, “Would You Like to Know.” The Expendables made “SLO town, smoke town,” a common phrase that night with their rendition of “Bowl for Two.” Finishing off the night, The Expendables played “Bowl for Two,” asking for audience assistance. Weers split the venue into two halves where one sang “Oh I packed this bowl for two” and the other countered with “And I am gonna wanna smoke it with you,” stating that the loudest half would have to smoke the other side out and if there was a tie, then they have to smoke the band out. The energy was high, the music was pumping, and mosh pits were a regular in this compact venue making the energy level, proximity of everyone and the music all the more louder and bigger. Their tour will circle around the United States where they will have their final show in San Diego, CA. |
